Company History

In the heart of Bruce County lie the picturesque towns of Port Elgin and Southampton, comprising the municipality of Saugeen Shores. Nestled between the Saugeen River, the Saugeen First Nation Reserve and the sandy shores of Lake Huron, Saugeen Shores has become as culturally diverse a community as you can find in rural Ontario.

Due to its close proximity to the Bruce Power Generating Station and its sandy beaches, Saugeen Shores boasts an affluent community and a huge seasonal influx of beach seekers always looking for entertainment.

Thus, Bruce County Playhouse was created. Bruce County Playhouse is a not-for-profit theatre company seeking to foster, produce and promote excellent theatre that will provoke, inspire and entertain the people of Bruce County. We will strive to enrich local theatre enthusiasts’ experiences by giving them the opportunity to work with professionals as well as educating and entertaining our community by providing a professional theatre experience. Our goal is to build a stronger community through artistic expression and appreciation.

For our inaugural season, we have chosen to produce, The Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith in July and an adaptation of Cinderella by Marcus Lundgren performed by our local “Young Company” members in August.

We thank you for your interest in our company and hope to see you this summer at the theatre!
